The American Legion Auxiliary, Bluffton Unit 205, has selected a group of rising high school senior girls to attend the 2026 Palmetto Girls State Program, scheduled for June 7-18 at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C.
The program recognizes students for leadership and citizenship and provides a scholarship for participation.
Delegates will join students from across the state to take part in a hands-on experience focused on government procedures. Activities include simulated political campaigns, elections and the political process.
Participants will also receive instruction on citizenship and public service through guest speakers, expert panels and program staff.
The following students have been selected as delegates for 2026:
From May River High School: Madelyn Green and Landrum Barnes.
From Hilton Head High School: Sharlene Mosquera and Taylor Patterson.
From Hilton Head Christian Academy: Brinkley Smith.
From Cross Schools: Anna Reeves.
From Ridgeland-Hardeeville High School: Danielle King and Jacqueline Ortiz-Galdamez.
The American Legion Auxiliary said the students were chosen based on their demonstrated leadership and citizenship skills.
