Hilton Head CNA recognized for compassionate patient care

Novant Health Hilton Head Medical Center has recognized its first “Guardian Angel” award recipient, honoring a certified nursing assistant for her compassion and dedication to patient care.

KeiKei Manker, a CNA in the hospital’s progressive care unit, received the inaugural award through a recognition program established by the Novant Health Foundation. The program allows patients, families and colleagues to recognize team members who make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Manker was nominated for the award in recognition of the kindness, attentiveness and comfort she provides to patients.

The first recognition was made possible through a gift from Nancy McInroy, chief philanthropy officer for Novant Health Foundation. McInroy made the contribution in memory of a friend and neighbor who received care at the hospital and formed a connection with Manker.

“My friend was so pleased with her experience at Hilton Head Medical Center and was especially grateful for the sweet care and attention that KeiKei provided after her procedure,” McInroy said. “She raved about KeiKei and her fabulous eyelashes.”

Sadly, McInroy’s friend later died.

Through the donation, the Guardian Angel program will continue to recognize caregivers who demonstrate compassion and service in their work.
The program is part of the Novant Health Foundation’s broader efforts to support patients and care teams. The foundation expanded its work into South Carolina in 2025.

Hospital officials said the recognition highlights the role of caregivers who provide not only clinical care but also personal support to patients and their families.

Manker’s recognition marks the first of what is expected to be an ongoing effort to honor staff members who make a difference in patient experiences at the Hilton Head facility.
