A bald eagle is scheduled to launch from the top of the Harbour Town Lighthouse as part of The Sea Pines Resort’s Fourth of July celebration marking America’s 250th anniversary.
The resort announced a full day of events on July 4, beginning with a morning parade and ending with fireworks over Harbour Town and Calibogue Sound.

The featured event is planned for 8:15 p.m., when Lincoln, a bald eagle ambassador with the American Eagle Foundation, is expected to take flight from the lighthouse. According to the resort, Lincoln has appeared in Budweiser commercials and at Philadelphia Eagles football games.

The eagle is scheduled to fly over Harbour Town before gliding toward the 18th green of Harbour Town Golf Links. The resort said Lincoln regularly appears at patriotic events across the country.

Festivities will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Fourth of July Parade around Harbour Town. Organizers said the parade will include displays, music and participants decorated in red, white and blue. Guests are encouraged to decorate bicycles, wagons, strollers and dogs for the event.

New to this year’s parade is Woody the Clydesdale from Sea Pines’ Lawton Stables, who will lead the procession.

Following the parade, a Fourth of July Carnival is planned on the Harbour Town lawn. The resort said the event will feature traditional games and activities for children throughout the day.

As evening approaches, attention will shift to Harbour Town’s entertainment lineup. Gregg Russell is scheduled to perform his annual Fourth of July concert beneath the Liberty Oak Tree beginning at 8 p.m.

The celebration is set to conclude with a fireworks display beginning at 9 p.m. Fireworks will illuminate the Harbour Town Lighthouse and Calibogue Sound, according to organizers. Food, music and harbor activities are also planned throughout the evening.

For visitors arriving later in the day, public parking will be available from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. in designated lots along Greenwood Drive. Attendants will direct guests to complimentary shuttle service operating between the parking areas and Harbour Town Yacht Club.

Additional events are scheduled throughout the holiday week, including Donuts with Benjamin Franklin, Patriotic Sidewalk Chalk and a performance by The Fabulous Equinox Orchestra.

The Sea Pines Resort said all July Fourth events are open to resort guests and the public. A complete schedule of holiday week activities is available through the resort’s website seapines.com
