With this feature, we seek to capture a glimpse of what you and your neighbors have to say about a variety of topics, issues, events – and just plain fun questions.

Normally, you might find us anywhere around the community with a camera and note pad, asking simple questions and looking for thoughtful answers. During this coronavirus pandemic, we are practicing social distancing and turned to social media to ask readers and followers: Go outside and take a selfie (or have someone take a photo) of you doing some activity or hobby you discovered or rediscovered during our time of sheltering in place.

Cinda Seamon, Hilton Head Island: “I did chalk art in our parking lot at our apartment complex. I had forgotten how much fun this was.”

Tressa Price Oswalt, Lubbock, Texas: “I bought a swing that makes into a bed. I’ve been sleeping outside in my ‘nest’ complete with mosquito netting.”

Tony Arcuri, Hilton Head Island: “I rediscovered taking a drive around the block.”

Linda Saylor, Hilton Head Island: “Jim and I created an edible gardening area and are growing everything.”

Phyllis Neville, Hilton Head Island: “I decided to get my batons out and give them a twirl. I was a competitive twirler starting at age 5.”
