At Palmetto Animal League, we believe in second chances for all. This applies to animals with medical issues and disabilities and to senior pets we lovingly and respectfully call our “Silver Paws.”

No matter what issues a pet faces, we are lifelong partners for each animal we rescue. While these senior pets usually take a little longer to adopt, they are often the ones who imprint themselves on our souls here at PAL.

Luigi is a perfect example. He is a large, handsome 13-year-old boy. He lived a wonderful life with one family for all those years, totally indoors until his mom became very ill. Luigi’s dad was beside himself when he told the cat about the changes to come.

He didn’t want to give Luigi up, but he trusted PAL to find this sweet senior a safe place to live out his years. When Luigi arrived at our Adoption Center, it was as if he understood this was a difficult decision for his dad and he was ready to forgive and face the future.

Don’t let Luigi’s age fool you. He is plump, happy and spry! He is a creature of habit who likes to live life on his terms and will come to you for attention. He’s a healthy, declawed guy who does not like to travel.

While Luigi does entertain the company of other animals, he would prefer to live with humans only. His one major request is that you don’t dress him up. He prefers to go au naturel.

If you’re looking for an independent cat who is a good listener, Luigi would like to meet you. He can’t wait to find a sunny new window pane to call his own! Visit Luigi at PAL Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. He’ll be in the quietest cat room at the end of the hall. It’s apparent he considers himself the most handsome cat in the Adoption Center, so you’re bound to locate him easily.

Join the No Kill movement. Adopt a senior pet like Luigi and give one of our “Silver Paws” the gift of peace and happiness in their golden years.
