The Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2017 by undertaking a special project to mark the occasion.

Known as the “50 for 50” initiative, members will raise $50,000 to commemorate 50 years of community service and will use that money to create a series of interpretive panels to be installed along the bicycle and leisure path system of the Island. The signs will identify local points of interest along the trails and offer “factoids” about the island.

To support the “50 for 50” initiative, the club will hold a raffle, selling only 600 tickets at $50 each. Five prizes are valued at $1,000 or more.

Five tickets will be drawn on Dec. 3 with prizes to be awarded at the club’s Dec. 10 luncheon meeting at Sea Pines Country Club. Winners will select their prizes by order of the draw. Prizes include:

  • One-week stay at a 3 bedroom lakefront home in western North Carolina; sleeps 6; pontoon boat and 2 kayaks available for use. Value: $3,000
