A new service of the Beaufort County Library system allows library cardholders to read many popular magazines for free through the use of a free app, Flipster.

Flipster is a next-generation digital magazine distribution service. Accessible via a desktop web browser or custom apps for Apple and Android devices, and the Kindle Fire tablet, with Flipster, users can download magazines to read offline, anytime, anywhere.

Among the popular magazines available are full issues of Southern Living, People, Reader’s Digest, Time, Real Simple, Ebony, National Geographic and Consumer Reports.

To sign up for the service, simply download the Flipster app from the iTunes app store, or GooglePlay, or via the library’s website, then enter your Beaufort County Library card number when prompted.

Once a publication is downloaded, users can search the magazine for key words and print articles.

Some of the features available on the desktop version are not available for mobile applications.
