Club Champion is the newest golf store in Bluffton. Located at 1009 Fording Island Road, near Best Buy, the store is designed to showcase Club Champion’s fitting experience with 35,000 hitable clubhead and shaft combinations.

The two hitting bays have TrackMan launch monitors for analyzing your swing. There is also a SAM Putt Lab fitting system to help you find the perfect putter.

James Swantko and Jesse Emerick, both certified master club fitters, are dynamic, personable and knowledgeable about all brands of golf clubs. They make club fitting a fun and enjoyable experience.

“Our goals as agnostic fitters, no matter the brand, is to give you the right fit,” said store manager Swantko. “You will play better and have more fun. Your new misses will be better than your old best shots.”

The store has interchangeable clubheads and shafts from all the major manufacturers. The fitter keeps changing clubheads and shafts until he finds the right fit for you.

The TrackMan launch monitor measures swing speed, ball speed, launch angle, club path, spin rate, distance, direction and more. It was a fascinating experience. I was able to pick up 12 more yards on my 6 iron without changing my swing.

I also learned that they don’t recommend all your clubs to be from the same manufacturer. I ended up with Ping Irons, TaylorMade hybrids, a Titleist wedge, and a Ping putter.

The staff doesn’t try to sell you anything you don’t need. My current Wilson driver and fairway woods were fine. I had always thought that all your clubs should be from the same company, but the statistics didn’t prove that.

You can decide what you want to get fit. They have separate prices for wedges, putter, fairway woods and hybrids, irons and driver. You can also do the full bag fitting. You will receive a print out of fitting results and club specifications. You can then decide what – if anything – you want to buy.
