Hilton Head’s FastTrackers led Beaufort County’s three Toastmasters International clubs, all of which earned honors for the fiscal year ending June 30.
FastTrackers of Hilton Head, for the 13th time in 15 years, earned the distinction of being a Presidents’ Distinguished Club. Of the 109 clubs in South Carolina, only 23 that attained that status.
To attain that level, a club must earn nine of 10 possible points most of which are related to members’ achievements. FastTrackers garnered all 10 possible points for the year.
The Leadership and Public Speaking Toastmasters Club of Beaufort earned seven points to reach Select Distinguished Club status, the second highest level.
Bluffton Speech Achievers attained the status of Distinguished Club, gathering five of the 10 possible points.
The point categories include such requirements as attaining advanced communicator level, earning leadership awards, and attending training sessions.
One of the advanced awards went to David Premo of Hilton Head. He is the second member of FastTrackers Toastmasters of Hilton Head, formed in 1988, to attain the pinnacle of achievement in Toastmasters, the Distinguished Toastmaster award (DTM). Fewer than 1 percent of all Toastmasters members reach the DTM level.
Premo also completed two years of service on the state District Executive Committee (DEC) as public relations manager and Division B Director. \Maureen Korzik, Area Director for the three Beaufort County clubs plus the Ridgeland Toastmaster Club, also served on the DEC. Another FastTracker, Michelle Casey, was an Area Director, serving Divison B clubs in Charleston.
