Hope Haven of the Lowcountry has been awarded a grant from the Sisters of Charity Foundation to start the innovative Parent Café program.
This evidence-based program provides a safe, nurturing environment where parents can have open and honest conversations about their families and discover ways to make their families and communities stronger.
Through the Parent Café model, parents will meet once a week for five weeks, taking part in guided discussions and activities focused on the “Protective Factors:” resilience, social connections, knowledge of parenting and child development, concrete support, and communication.
Parent Café will also help parents better understand their role and to actively take part in shaping healthy and strong families and communities.
Hope Haven, a local child advocacy and rape crisis center, plans to start Parent Café in the fall and is seeking partnerships with family-serving organizations located in Beaufort and Jasper County who could benefit from this program.
