• Dementia Dialogues, a five-session training course, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from Feb. 26 to March 26 at Memory Matters, 117 William Hilton Parkway on Hilton Head Island.

The course is designed to educate individuals who care for persons who exhibit signs and symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementias.

This USC Arnold School of Public Health training is free and is taught by Melissa Dalton, dementia care specialist with Memory Matters.

  • To mark February as American Heart Month, Hilton Head Regional Healthcare will host heart-health events this month.

Heart age screenings will be held Feb. 7, 14 and 21. Appointment times vary at Hilton Head Hospital and Bluffton Medical Campus.

Knowing one’s heart “age” is important in assessing risk and mapping out a heart-healthy lifestyle. The screen includes blood pressure, glucose, total cholesterol and body mass index. Overnight fasting is recommended for best results.

  • Memorial Health in Savannah will host a free community seminar, “Learn More About Hernias,” at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 at Memorial Health GenerationOne, 1100 Eisenhower Drive in the Eisenhower Shopping Center.

Dr. Oliver Whipple, laparoscopic and robotic surgeon with Memorial Health University Physicians, will lead the presentation.
