Peter Liggett, M.D., a Hilton Head retina specialist, will conduct an educational seminar on macular degeneration at 4 p.m. March 9 at TidePointe, 700 TidePointe Way on Hilton Head.
Dr. Liggett is a leader in the evaluation and treatment of macular and retinal diseases. He has been a clinical professor of ophthalmology at Yale School of Medicine and Weill Cornell College of Medicine. He has written more than 75 articles in peer-reviewed journals and edited four major textbooks on diseases of the macula and retina.
His practice is Hilton Head Macula & Retina, located at 15A Lafayette Place on Hilton Head Island.

- The Coastal Carolina Hospital Governing Board recently elected new officers.
David L. Kimball, a Sun City Hilton Head resident, was elected as the new chairman. He succeeded former chairman Louis Grant. Kimball has been a member of the governing board since 2013.
- Martin Sauls IV of Ridgeland was elected vice chairman and Robert M. Norwood of Callawassie Island was elected secretary.
In addition to being on the governing board, Kimball serves on the hospital’s Sun City Advisory Council, where he provides input into health care issues and hospital services and serves as a liaison to the Sun City community.
A native of Jasper County, Sauls is active throughout the community. He currently serves as president of the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Jasper County Council.
Norwood is a retired insurance executive and former owner of a local Comfort Keepers franchise. Both Sauls and Norwood joined the hospital’s governing board two years ago.
