• Memory Matters will host a “Boot Camp for Caregivers” from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 2 at its memory care center, 117 William Hilton Parkway on Hilton Head Island.

Keynote speaker is Dr. Paul Mazzeo, a board-certified neurologist, on the topic “What Caregivers Need to Know.”

Other topics include how to create a “Plan B” and a question and answer session.

The event is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required by calling 843-842-6688.

  • The 27th Annual Hargray Hilton Head Island Bridge Run 10K and 5K will kick off at 8 a.m. Nov. 10 at Crossings Park, just off Palmetto Bay Road.

All participants will receive an event T-shirt, and both the 10K and 5K races will offer Overall and Age Group awards in five-year increments for male and female divisions.

The race will start and finish at Crossings Park, taking participants over Broad Creek on the Cross Island Bridge. The post-race party and awards ceremony will feature refreshments, music and door prizes.

Since 1992, the Hilton Head Island Bridge Run has hosted more than 11,000 runners and walkers while raising more than $43,000 for charities in the surrounding area. This Lowcountry tradition will continue with this event, when 400 to 500 men, women and children will be challenged to push themselves to succeed.
