Warner Peacock, president and CEO of Peacock Automotive, has been appointed to the board of directors for the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association (SCADA).

The organization has 250 members who account for more than 90 percent of new vehicles sold in the state. The association works on behalf of its members on public policy, regulatory issues and economic developments that impact the automotive industry.

SCADA was formed in 1937.

Patricia Yount has joined Olivetti, McCray & Withrow LLC, a law firm based on Hilton Head Island, as an estate planning and probate paralegal.

Yount brings 12 years of paralegal experience and firsthand knowledge of Hilton Head Island to her position.

She will assist the team with legal research, case file management, client communication and coordination with government agencies.

Yount brings a comprehensive knowledge of family law, civil law and personal injury case preparation to her role. Previously, she worked at the family law-focused Jones Law Firm in Marshall, Tex. She subsequently moved to Austin, Tex. for a position with Beacon Hill Legal Staffing, working in varying fields of practice to include criminal law, subrogation law, employment and immigration cases.

Earlier in her career, Yount served the Department of Defense at the U.S. Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center in Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif. After years of living in various locations across the United States, Yount decided to return to her childhood home of Hilton Head.

A graduate of Hilton Head Island High School, Yount attended the University of South Carolina-Beaufort and Panola College in Carthage, Texas. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division and the Capital Area Paralegal Association of Texas.

Amy P. Propst has joined Home Helpers of the Lowcountry as its new administrator.

Propst brings more than 17 years of operations and marketing experience to the position. She will be responsible for operations of the company, which provides comprehensive home care services for families.

  • Rebecca Shannon has joined the staff of the Coastal Discovery Museum as an educator.

Originally from New Jersey, Rebecca grew up in Point Pleasant Beach and Freehold. Throughout her young life and college, she remained active in youth educational organizations that gave her hands-on experience with animals of all kinds and provided leadership training.

Her love of animals led her to become a student of the Animal and Botanical Science Academy, which then led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoo Science. Shannon is a recent graduate from Delaware Valley University, located in Bucks County Pennsylvania.

Her degree gave her experience in animal care as well as environmental, agricultural, exotic animal, and equine education. While in school, Shannon became certified in Project WILD, Exploring the Deep With NOAA, and Flying Wild. She also worked at the Belize Zoo, taking care of their animals and as a supervisor of its conservation camp.

Having been an educator and camp supervisor for many years, her passion is working with children and the public, and connecting them to nature.

Shannon will be caring for the Museum’s education animals, leading a variety of educational experiences for school groups and the general public, and helping to create new experiences for Museum guests.

  • The next Lowcountry Ladies Luncheon will be held Nov. 2 at Venue 1223, 1223 May River Road in Bluffton. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon.

The event is intended to help support local women-owned businesses and to help women network in effort to grow personally and professionally.

The event will also offer a holiday shopping boutique, and all the vendors will get to speak to guests to showcase their business and products or services.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their business cards for networking and prize drawings.

  • Dan Santorum, CEO of Professional Tennis Registry, has received the National Public Parks Tennis Association’s Jean and Hollis Smith Lifetime Achievement Award.

The award, presented annually, recognizes an individual who has been an outstanding advocate, and who has promoted the NPPTA across the country.

PTR, based on Hilton Head Island, is the largest global organization of tennis coaching professionals with nearly 16,500 members in 125 countries.

  • J. Banks Design Group was awarded the 2018 Impact Innovator Award at the NEXT Conference in Austin, Texas. The Impact Innovator Award was for J. Banks’ efforts to improve the lives of orphans in Tanzania through the Valentine Project.

Joni Vanderslice started her South-Carolina-based interior design firm more than 30 years ago, which has grown to employ 50 associates.

In 2015, she and her husband opened an orphanage in Tanzania, called the Valentine Children’s Home, that serves dozens of children, many of who have lost both parents.
