Local homeowners following national trend

Quartz has become a popular choice for Lowcountry homes, just as it is in kitchens and baths across the country.

And while granite and marble continue to be the most popular countertop choices, quartz is now an attractive alternative.

So why is quartz so appealing?

Although some quartz countertops are actually made of quarried slabs of natural stone, the newer engineered material is created through a manufacturing process that mixes approximately 95 percent ground natural quartz with 5 percent polymer resins.

The result is a durable, low-maintenance, natural stone-looking countertop available in an array of colors.

For many homeowners, the virtually unlimited colors are what sold them on quartz. Open kitchens create the need to coordinate countertops with adjoining dining and seating areas.

Quartz offers an array of color options that can fit any style or décor.

Despite all the color options, white quartz continues to lead the pack in popularity. However, "white" quartz comes in so many colors, hues, patterns and textures that a local stone supplier offers an entire warehouse section with thousands of white quartz slabs from which to choose.

Quartz can equal granite in durability and can be as cost effective. Like granite, quartz can fit practically any design style.

Both offer many edging options and can be fabricated with a leather finish that creates a subtle rustic look.

The best news, however, is that homeowners now have more alternatives than ever in selecting stone for use throughout the home.

And, the Lowcountry stone suppliers are in the forefront in offering the best in product, fabrication and service.
