Have a cup o' joe and support Osprey Village

It's now possible to support local developmentally disabled adults by starting out each day with a cup of coffee - Osprey Village Porch Blend coffee, to be precise.

Osprey Village provides community-based job training and respite services to qualified individuals with developmental disabilities.

The nonprofit organization has partnered with a company called Just Love Coffee Roasters, which donates a portion of its proceeds to nonprofit organizations. Each month, the company features a different "cause coffee," and the Porch Blend was the coffee for the month of June.

"They have created this exquisite blend for Osprey Village," the organization's director of operations Julie Kuhns said. "I've tried the coffee, and I will tell you that it's good coffee. And I'm a coffee snob."

Each bag of the small roast coffee costs $13.95, and during the month of June, 36 percent - about $5 - of each bag sold was donated to Osprey Village, according to D.J. Smith, marketing and creative director at Just Love. After June, the percentage dropped to 20 percent.

The Osprey Village Porch Blend can be purchased in regular or decaffeinated, whole bean, drip grind or espresso grind. The medium roast coffee also can be found at the Osprey Village Thrift shops in Okatie and Hilton Head Island, or online at ospreyvillage.org.

A Just Love franchise is expected to open sometime around the end of 2018 in Pooler, Ga.

"We hope we do some good ... and help them to serve the folks in their community," Smith said. "That's really what it's all about. We don't see it as 'Just Love is a hero.' We see it as 'Osprey Village is a hero.' And we're simply trying to help them."
